Pavlova on Australia Day!

Hey foodies!
Had a piece of pavlova today to get into the spirit of Australia Day. Once it's decorated with fruit is looks so good! It's sweet and fluffy - what more could you want!

Chicken Karaage

Hi guys,
Last night before seeing a show at the Capitol Theatre I ate Japanese in Capitol Square, Haymarket. The name of the restaurant is Youmei. We only had time for a quick bite and the Chicken Karaage sang out to me when I read the menu! Thankfully you can get it as a main as well as entree.
Thoroughly delicious :)
And in case you were wondering, the show was the Phantom sequel - wouldn't recommend..

Hi guys,

My first blog is also dessert related! Yesterday I went to buffet high tea at Swissotel in Sydney. Everything was in mini and it was so pretty!

Mini cupcakes, mini macarons, little cups of chocolate mousse and mugs with tiramisu, custard tarts, caramel slice, chocolate cake, mini lemon meringue and mini pavlova.

And if that wasn’t enough fruit and chocolate fondue! Soon after we arrived we received a glass of sparkling wine and there was also tea and coffee available.

Oh hang on! I’ve forgotten the savory items! Quiche, sandwiches, scones and two different types warm bread scroll things. I don't usually like scones but these were delicious!

On the weekend it's buffet so you're not limited to the naughtiness! I was not disappointed with anything - great day out with one of the girls :) My favourite was the lemon meringue.

PURE GELATO.. Pure delight !

HEY THERE BLOGGERS,

So today im going to be bragging about the BEST gelato I have ever tried in my life. It was my younger sister’s birthday and we threw her a small barbeque at home with friends and family. Mum and I were preparing for the day and were told by a friend to try a place in Croydon Park for the cake. The place was called “Pure Gelato” famous for their gelato flavours and gelato cakes.
We visited the place to see what all the fuss was with these so-called amazing cakes. When we arrived the shop was a freezer, and I had the flu at this time – bad idea, it felt like I had walked into an ice skating rink. However, as I set my eyes on the desserts I forgot all about how cold I was and worried about how embarrassed I’d be if my mouth were to physically start drooling! Haha. The cakes were beautifully made and looked so tasty! I myself am a huge ice-cream/ gelato lover so this place was like heaven to me!!
The pictures below show what the cakes look like.

I thought it was such a clever idea having little gelato cones made up as a cake and stuck to a gelato base. It’s practical and so fun for kids - even teens and adults! When I tasted the gelato it was not as light and watery as others I have tasted before, but still not as creamy as regular ice-cream. It was a perfect in-between. The flavours I tried were delicious, but with over 150 flavours to try and choose from where do you begin!? These included traditional, as well as many creative ones I had never even heard of as gelato, such as, boysenberry cheesecake, caramelised fig, coffee and walnut, green tea, pina colada, champagne and plenty of others.
This place was a great find and I will 100% be heading back their for my own birthday cake.. Or maybe even sooner just to treat myself once in a while :) lol!

Have a great week guys, and eat well! :P
