Hey guys, I've been flat out busy and just now only had time to put something together - Enjoy!


After a long week at work, Friday nights are reserved for drinks, food and good company. Last Friday, I met up with some mates for a few drinks and a quick meal.
After a few drinks at the Ivy, we headed down to Chinatown, where we knew we would be able to find a good feed. We tossed up between the long line at Mamak and the deliciously devilish tonkotsu broth of Gumshara.
Let’s just say it was an easy decision. Gumshara is a hidden gem located in the heart of Chinatown in the Eating World food court. If you don’t look carefully, you will miss it, there is hardly any signage, the only indication of the restaurant is the crowd of people buzzing around the stall.
Gumshara is known for its handmade ramen and scrumptious slowly cooked MSG free tonkotsu broth. For those who don’t know what tonkotsu is, it is pork bone. I’ve never been to Japan but from what I have heard, although it is not quite as authentic but it isn’t far off the mark.
After about 5 minutes scouring the menu, I settle on the Tonkotsu Ramen (Tomato flavoured) with a soft boiled egg ordered as an extra. Being in a food court its all hustle and bustle but the girl taking my order was still very nice and polite. So $13.50 later I am number 32.
My friends find a table right in front of the restaurant and I head off to get some beers. To my surprise our number gets called a few minutes later, not a long wait at all.
After a few shakes of chilli powder I dive in and am quite surprised. The broth is thick and has a really deep flavour to it. I really am enjoying the Tomato inspiration which reminds me of a Vietnamese soup dish called Bun rieu.

As I work through the dish I find that I’m getting quite full but by the end of it I am satisfied with the serving size. The ramen was cooked well, soft and silky. The pork slices had a thin layer of fat around the edges which gave it a fuller flavour and the soft boiled egg was cooked to perfection.
Overall I really enjoyed the meal and would definitely come back the next time I had a ramen craving. At $13.50 plus $7 for a beer it’s a relatively good price for a good meal.

Enjoying Summer!

Hey guys!

So we finally saw some great weather this weekend! So just to take advantage of the sun and the heat, my friend and I decided we would go for a drive, buy some fish and chips from this great takeaway to eat and go sit by the beach. 

We each ordered one of those ‘seafood baskets’ that are packed with chips, fish cocktails, calamari rings prawn cutlets, etc.   

Being a big seafood eater I really enjoyed it, the food was amazing :) 

Later on we got icecream for dessert from Brighton Le Sands Ice creamery, a place I go to often for icecream.

 I had my favourite, chocolate icecream, which I thought went really well with the heat.

Overall a good summers day... apart from the sunburn :P

Homemade food is always the best food

HEY THERE BLOGGERS :) 


So today i received a call from my amazing grand mother inviting me to her place for a family lunch. Of course i said yes, firstly because she is the best cook i know and secondly who would reject a free lunch!!? lol 


She made a famous Greek dish from the Cretan cuisine made of rice cooked in chicken juices, believe me it tastes better than it may sound.. Traditionally it's name is "Pilafi".


It's definately one of my favourites ! YUM!

Aussie Day BBQ

Hey Guys!

So my Australia Day wasn't all that exciting. Due to the slightly miserable weather it was quite impossible to celebrate on the beach, so in order to have some sort of celebration I attended a barbecue at a close friend's house involving many family and friends.

 The benefit was that I got to enjoy a variety of great meat and salads and a whole lot of great conversation! 

Lamb Souvlaki, Lamb Chops, pork chops, and sausages: just to name a few!

The barbecue ended late at night when we were all laughed out or in some cases finding it hard to walk straight :P 

All in all, a great night, better than i thought it would be.  Hope you all enjoyed our national celebration!

Eurobay Cafe Brighton !

HEY THERE BLOGGERS :)
So i was meeting a friend to have an early lunch in brighton today and we decided to eat at one of our regular spots, Eurobay Cafe.

It is a gorgeous place with the most delicious european foods! I just love eating there it makes me feel like i am back in europe lol.. Yes I'm abit of a dreamer haha. 








My friend and I both ordered a salad i ate the Grilled Octopus Garden Salad which was yummy AND healthy wish is always a plus and she ordered a Grilled Chicken Rocket Salad !







Additionally we ordered a Souvlaki dish with Pita bread to share as we were starving and because we love our greek food.

Pavlova on Australia Day!

Had a piece of pavlova today to get into the spirit of Australia Day. Once it's decorated with fruit is looks so good! It's sweet and fluffy - what more could you want!

Chicken Karaage

Hi guys,
Last night before seeing a show at the Capitol Theatre I ate Japanese in Capitol Square, Haymarket. The name of the restaurant is Youmei. We only had time for a quick bite and the Chicken Karaage sang out to me when I read the menu! Thankfully you can get it as a main as well as entree.

Thoroughly delicious :)
And in case you were wondering, the show was the Phantom sequel - wouldn't recommend..
