Restaurant 3one7

Restaurant 3one7
317 Church St,
Parramatta NSW 2150

On Sunday afternoon, after weeks of craving a nice gourmet burger, we headed to Parramatta in search of the ultimate burger to hit that spot. We ended up on Church street as we thought that would have been the best place for variety and something really delicious.

As we wander past a few restaurants we check out the menus but decide to venture further on. We quickly learnt that this was not the place for the ultimate gourmet burger. Towards the end of stroll we came across a moderately busy restaurant called 3one7. We check out the menu and it has nice sounding burgers and looks like a good place to dine. As we sit down and stew over the menu we realise that the burgers are only served during LUNCH! Now this is the awkward part whether to leave or stay. After a bit of umming and ahhing we decide to stay and try something else.

About after another 5 minutes of looking at the menu we decide on our dishes however it probably takes us another 10 minutes to get the attention of the wait staff. As we are starring blankly waiting for someone to serve us we notice that they have won awards 4 years straight from 2006-2009. We quip to one another “no wonder they haven’t won anything since with the type of service”. At this point we are feeling quite stupid as we can’t even order what we wanted and the service is pretty poor.

After a few attempts to wave the waitress down, we finally placed our order. I decided on a dish called Veal Lemon, pretty much as the name suggest it’s veal with a lemon & rosemary sauce. I’m pretty biased as I always enjoy something with a citrus twist and this is the same. The only problem is that there’s not much veal at all, for $30 it’s a let down. The meal comes with baked potatoes and some veggies and by the end of the meal all the veggies are gone with the veal however about 90% of the potatoes are still there.

Overall I wasn’t impressed. Our total bill came to about $70 for 2 mains and a jug of lemon squash. Not the worst but definitely had better for that price, the dishes weren’t creative and didn’t have anything special. This might be due to the fact they probably had over 100 dishes on the menu, with about 10 types of veal and chicken to choose from. With that kind of menu creativity  and flavour go out the window.

Would I go back to 3one7? Probably not, unless they win another award…
